The Desert Comprehensive Breast Center is a full-service breast care facility offering low-dose screening and
diagnostic mammography including digital mammography, clinical breast exams, and MammaCare ® instruction in
breast self exam.
Patients can be seen for consultation, treatment and follow-up. Through the weekly pre-treatment planning conferences,
physicians and staff discuss treatment options to present to patients. Also available are cancer risk counseling,
nutritional education and support groups. The Navigator Program offers early and on-going support to the newly
diagnosed patient. Click here to learn more about the Navigator Program.
TEAM
The Comprehensive Breast Center team includes Medical Director Laura Lee, M.D. (a specialist in breast/general/oncology surgery),
a radiologist and two pathologists. Support staff includes radiologic technologists who specialize in breast imaging and
advanced technology such as digital mammography, Somo-Vu ultrasound, and MRI-guided biopsies.
TREATMENT SERVICES
The weekly pre-treatment planning conferences offer women, who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer, and their physicians,
assistance in determining cancer treatment options. Through the Second Opinion Service, women can seek consultation on their
breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
SUPPORT
New Patient Orientation is held the second Monday of the month from 12-1:30 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to meet
members of the treatment team and to ask questions.
The Navigator Program offers early and on-going support to the newly diagnosed patient by pairing a patient with a woman who
has experienced a similar diagnosis and treatment plan.
The Patient Resource Center is located on the second floor in the patient reception area and provides access to a multi-media
library of cancer related educational materials and two computers with Internet access.
