The Comprehensive Cancer Center in Palm Springs is an outpatient facility of Desert Regional Medical Center. The cancer center opened in 1989 to offer the Palm Springs area's
first multidisciplinary outpatient cancer program. Services include screening, diagnosis, treatment, support and
follow-up care.
Today this innovative model of care, which provides coordinated services under one roof, is nationally recognized
by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons for exceeding 36 standards of care, including clinical
services, research, data management and cancer committee leadership. In 2007, the Commission on Cancer (COC) awarded CCC
the classification of Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program. In 2008, the COC awarded CCC a three-year approval with nine commendations - the maximum number possible. CCC also was the recipient of the 2008 COC Outstanding Achievement Award, given to just 19 percent of programs surveyed nationwide, for meeting and exceeding standards.
